Yes the Bogey & Bacall Classic Paddlefest weekend is back bigger & better! Please join us for 2 days of paddling events. Besides the kayak and canoe races, we have now added stand up paddleboard races to the schedule of events. The Saturday Bogey classic will consist of a 13.2 mile kayak & canoe race and an elite 6 mile SUP race. The Sunday Bacall Classic will hold a 6 mile kayak & canoe race and a 3 mile SUP race. This will be a fun and exciting weekend on the water in Key Largo for all paddlers. Come and help celebrate the return of the Bogey & Bacall Classic.

Saturday Feb. 4th
The Bogey 13.2 mile is a scenic race-course for single & double kayaks, surf skis. outrigger canoes and canoes that loops through mangrove creeks and across the open bay water of Blackwater Sound. The start and finish point will be from the shoreline of Florida Bay Outfitters. The actual length of the event could vary depending on conditions on race day.
*Boats must be over 16 feet in length to enter the Bogey.
The Bogey 6 mile Elite SUP race is scheduled for a rectangular course starting from the shore of Florida Bay Outfitters. Racers will head out for a 6 mile loop around buoys and back to Florida Bay Outfitters for the finish.
*Race Boards must be 12’6″ and over to enter the Bogey 6 mile elite race.
Sunday Feb. 5th
The 6 mile Bacall Classic for single & double kayaks, surf skis, outrigger canoes & canoes and the 3 mile SUP classic will start from the shoreline at Florida Bay Outfitters. All lengths of boats and boards are welcome to participate. Kayaks and canoes will complete 2 loops of 3 miles and the SUP boards will complete one loop of 3 miles.
Awards
Awards will be presented for first three places in each age and boat/board class category.
ENTRY FEES
Prior to Jan 17th, 2012: $45 Per Race or $60 for both days
After Jan 17th, 2012: $55 Per Race or $70 for both days
Race Rules
Safety First – All paddlers must assist anyone in distress. Your time will be adjusted.
A wearable coast guard approved PFD must be in the racer’s procession at all times on the water during the events.
Boats/boards must meet category specs. Any discrepancies or appeals must be reported to race officials in a timely manner.
All race decisions will be finalized by race officials. Races will continue rain or shine.
Party
Sunset Beach Party – 6pm on at Feb 4th on beach by Florida Bay Outfitters. Drinks, snacks & music will be provided for a fun happy hour racer get together. Please try to bring a chair for seating at the party.
