I use a variety of KIALOA Paddles, love the GL Ultralight Hulu

Have you changed boards/paddles since you started? If so, why?
I added the race board for down wind practice and the Hokua because I surf better now

Where would you most like to SUP?
Warm water!!! Waist to head high glassy (like everyone else) Maui is my favorite

Best piece of SUP advice you've gotten?
Reach dammit reach (Dave Kalama) Always have fun and never give up (Connor Baxter) The one having the most fun wins (Gerry Lopez)

Weirdest thing that's happened to you while SUPping?
Best is a huge pod of about 50 dolphin off Waikiki – mmmmmm, nothing more weird except getting a first place paddle in the 2013 Battle of the Paddle = a bucket list story

Favorite SUP nutrition? (During races/ during a long haul)
nuts and bananas

Goals for 2014
Finish in top 60% in the Olukai Ho'olaulea – and not to fall off 1000 times like last year

chocolate almond milk or anything with nuts or peanut butter

Your favorite non-paddle thing to do.
SKi-Hike-Bike-swim

What piece of SUP gear do you wish someone would invent?
I believe simpler is better – gear now is amazing.

What's your biggest challenge with SUP?
Time in the water because I live in a COLD place (mmm, back to the invention – booties and wetsuit easier to get in and out of)

What is your proudest moment in a SUP race or event?
Finishing the Maliko down wind in 2013 at the Olukai event – the weather was gnarly and conditions sucked – the gulch was scary and we had never done the run before and we WENT!!!

Tell us about the best friend(s) you made through SUP.
So many – Gerry and Toni Lopez, Dennis Oliphant and his amazing daughter Brit. Connor Baxter, Riggs Napoleon, Chuck Patterson, Stebe Gates at Big Winds in OR and so many great local buddies who surf and paddle with us

What's your best SUP travel tip
Travel with a good inflatable board – we stuff our clothes in the Naish ONE bag and set off all over the place

Question for Mullet Nation
How on earth do people do a headstand while on a wave – one of my bucket list items
