Check these two videos out. The first is Catalina Classic Paddle Board Race by Marci Klein – Klein Creative Media. This drone footage gives you an amazing view of the start. The race starts on Catalina in the Isthmus Cove N 33° 26.534′ W 118° 29.907′ and travels past the R-10 marker at Palos Verdes N 33° 46.371’ W 118° 26.210′ and finishes at the Manhattan Beach Pier N 33° 53.00′ W 118° 24.876′.
This second video, Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race – shot 100% on DJI Inspire1 drone by Vision Impossible UG (haftungsbeschränkt) has great aerial shots of Palos Verdes and the legendary R10 Buoy.
And this last video, “No Words” – Catalina Classic 2016 – Hickmet USA by Victoria Hickmet is both video and a photo collage. You can see some interesting details in this like the feeding pole, which is how paddlers get nutrition and drinks from their boat support. Everyone has their own special contraption, but the crab net or broomstick with a combination of a tupperware bowl and a bottle cage works great. Pay attention to the small details and you can learn a lot if you’re considering this quest in the future.
