First of all, this is a paddle challenge that started with Julie Nicholls and the 100/100 Challenge a few years ago. Julie is the godmother to all of this and we’d be remiss if we didn’t recognize our founder. This year, Julie turned the reigns over to us at Distressed Mullet and Paddle Monster. It is our goal, as it was Julie’s, to use this challenge as a way to connect us to each other and to the water sports we love so much. It’s a way to keep you paddling. And even if you are alone on a lake 100 miles from the nearest paddler, you will never be alone because around the world, there are others, paddling to achieve the same goals.

I have to approve all new members because this is a closed community. If you have a paddle in your hand in your profile or you are on a board, surfski, OC, prone paddleboard in a photo on your timeline, I’ll add you without question. We do reserve the right to cut you loose at any time if you even come close to posting abusive remarks. This group is all stoke, 24/7.

A little bit about the community:

The 100/100 paddlers meet at events, have breakfast together, go out for tacos and talk paddling. We don’t talk politics. We protect our playground in that water quality affects us all, but we’re not into the pundit-cat-eat-dog world. If you break our code of kindness, you are gone. No warnings. We also don’t accept porn stars or Nigerian Princesses looking to transfer money. I think you get it. If you don’t, don’t worry. We’ll let you know quickly.

That said, we have an amazing group. We’ve been investing in technology that will someday help keep leaderboards and track virtual courses. We are making this as fun as possible, but know we’re working in the background to add features and make this insanely cool.

THE CHALLENGE:

THE LAST 50 DAYS OF 2016 STARTING NOVEMBER 10.
50 ACTIVITIES IN 50 DAYS. STAY ACTIVE. STAY CONNECTED.
AT LEAST 7 HAVE TO BE ON THE WATER. THAT’S ONE PER WEEK.
LET THE COUNTDOWN BEGIN ON THURSDAY.
FOR THOSE WHO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE, THERE WILL BE
RANDOM DRAWINGS FOR COOL SWAG.
Let’s stay active. Get outside. Walk. Ride a bike. Take a yoga class. Take a spin class. 1 hour per day for 50 days. And at least one day per week needs to be on the water, because after all, this is a paddle challenge. What’s nice about this is it’s a good time for dry land training, for building a base for next year.
