Legend. So much good has come from this 22.5-mile race around Absecon Island. I’ve raced it once and it was amazing. It’s basically a 22 mile Graveyard with casinos. The setting, as incredible as it may, pales in comparison to the stoke and generosity of the paddlers and contributors. THIS IS COMMUNITY. There is an 8 mile option as well. I highly recommend making the trip, raising what you can, donating what you can.
From Dean Randazzo:
This year is the 12th annual Paddle For A Cause and I’m taking my first shot at the 22.5-mile around the island paddle. Although its been a long time since my last chemo treatment, all of those years of fighting cancer really took a toll on my body and have kept me out of the race until now.
A few months ago I was thinking about Mike May when he first told me about his idea for the paddle 12 years ago when I was in the hospital, he did it in honor of me and lately I’ve just gotten this undeniable feeling like I’ve got to do this paddle, I’m fortunate to be here, no excuses. If it takes me eight hours, it takes me eight hours. I’m gonna finish it.
