Port Royal Paddle Battle 2019

Race DescriptionThe Paddle Battle is fun for paddlers and spectators alike. It starts and finishes at the Port Royal Foundation  Maritime Center on the pristine Chechessee River in “Cool Coastal Port Royal”.There are two race distances: 3.5 miles ( should be ideal for intermediate paddlers) and 7.0 miles (will be  challenging, even for advanced paddlers).Awards and a post race get together will be held at Bertos Tex-Mex Restaurant in nearby Habersham, SC.  Free beer, chips and salsa to all racers!  GPS is 9 Market, Beaufort, SCSpectators can watch the start and finish from the porches and docks at the Maritime Center.Come and have a blast! FeesAdult: $45. $50 after midnight Sun., Sept. 17.Youth: $25Bertos Lunch: $10 Raffle Prizes- $100 gift certificate from Epic Kayaks.  Spend it on anything on their website.- $50 gift certificate plus 5 hats from Tim Lovett at Higher Ground Outfitters.Other Good Stuff- Gatorade, fruit, water  and snacks on site after the race- Paddle Battle T-shirts – Certificates to 3d place in each classPort Royal Sound FoundationNet proceeds go to the Port Royal Sound Foundation, an official 501(c)(3) corporation. Go here to learn about the System and view a list of boats and classes. Please contact me if you have questions.High Performance Kayaks and Surfskis – (HPK)–  Unlimited class with no specification limits. Fast Sea Kayak (FSK) – any single kayak or surf ski with  a 4” waterline beam of at least 8.5% of length.Sea or Touring Kayak (SK) –   any single kayak or surf ski with a 4” waterline beam of at least 10.8% of lengthRecreational – Non racing craft, preferably 14 ft or less in length.  Basically, anything goes!SUP – 14’SUP – 12’6″SUP –  12′ or under (surf)Prone – 12’6″Prone – 14’OC-1 – Any one person outrigger canoeC-1 UnlimitedTandem – Any tandem canoe, kayak, or outrigger.Pedal Boat – Hobie Mirage, etc.Each   class is further broken down into Open (any age), Master (50 to 64), and Senior (65+)
